The main priority of Careers Education at Queen Victoria School is to offer advice and guidance which will allow our young people to make informed decisions about their futures.

Queen Victoria School has two levels of external careers provision. Elaine Downs is the Skills Development Scotland Adviser who is in school weekly to offer specialist careers support.

At S4 an additional service is provided by Greta Weir of Futurewise, involving the Profiling process which identifies pupil aptitudes and interests and is followed by a detailed consideration of results with pupils.

Mrs Adams provides timetabled Careers to pupils of S3-6 to enhance their decision-making skills.

Carole Phipps oversees Careers provision and offers specific assistance and support with UCAS applications. We offer a programme of events, visits and presentations throughout the year to extend the knowledge of Queen Victoria School pupils, including University and GAP presentations; enterprise activities; open days and taster courses; higher education fairs and conferences.

In addition to this, a Work Experience Programme exists and regular careers input is offered by representatives from the Army, Royal Navy/Royal Marines and the Royal Air Force.

There is both specialist advice and in-house support to assist the pupils of Queen Victoria School in making the choices which are best for them.

The "choices" booklet for 2017 is now available:
