Queen Victoria School warmly invites eligible families to apply on behalf of children who will be of Primary 7 or Secondary 1 age in the year of entry.  Some places are available in more senior years from time to time, but these tend to be very few.

The School holds its Admissions Board once a year, in early March, and the closing date for applications is January 15th of the year of entry.

Unfortunately we cannot accept applications after January 15th because of the preparation needed to ensure that each child has an equal and fair opportunity if invited to interview.

Although older children are sometimes offered places at the School, it is very unusual for such places to become available; the main intake is into Primary 7 each year, with some spaces usually being available in S1. Applications for exceptional admission on compassionate grounds are considered at any time of the year.

Entry to the School is not primarily on academic grounds, although it is important that the Admissions Board be convinced that Queen Victoria School can give adequate support and challenge to each pupil offered a place. We also place a high value on involvement in games, music, hobbies and the ceremonial side of the School, including Piping, Drumming and Highland Dancing. An ability to care for others and live alongside them is also important, given that every pupil at Queen Victoria School is a boarder. We also find that young people who are readers cope especially well with both the social and the academic aspects of life at the School.
